We made it to Jeddah! From the time we left home until we cleared Saudi Arabia customs took about 26 hours. We flew out of Evansville to Detroit to Washington D.C. to Jeddah. The plane to Jeddah was huge--the biggest plane I have ever been in. It was 3 seats-aisle-4 seats-aisle-3 seats. I'd say there were about 12 stewardesses. They arrived while we were waiting to get on the plane. For you Harry Potter fans, it looked just like when the Beaux Batons arrived at Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Globlet of Fire. (That's one of my favorite parts of the movie.) We were lucky that the plane had some empty seats and I got a window seat and Mark got an aisle seat with no one between us.
Katie and Moe were waiting outside customs for us. They showed us some of the sights of Jeddah, we had dinner at Chili"s, we grocery shopped for water and drinks and then went to Moe's Uncle Marv's house. Katie and Moe live with Uncle Marv. We enjoyed meeting him and he put in his advice for our agenda covering the next 10 days.
Katie and Moe brought us back to the hotel and we are looking forward to some much needed sleep!
Saudia Arabia Trivia: Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia when the United States was here helping the Saudis look for underground sources of water. They didn't find any water but they found oil! Saudi Arabia gets its water from desalination plants which desalinize water from the Red Sea.
